The Latest Face of the Middletown Airport Commission Board

There’s a new face that will sit on the board of the Middletown Airport Commission Board. Matt King was approved to the four year team on August 7th by the City Council and will bring a new perspective to the future development of the Middletown Regional Airport.

King currently works in the Innovative Teaching and Learning department at one of Ohio’s largest career tech schools, Butler Tech. While at Butler Tech, King has disrupted the classroom by implementing Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (drones) into various pathways across the district.

“Our students are utilizing drone technology into many of their classes such as law enforcement, IT, public safety, business and agriculture. We are taking notes from industry and giving them exactly what they want.” said King. In 2018, the Duke Energy Foundation awarded Butler Tech a $65,000 grant focused around the development of Drone Technology.

For the past three years, King has also served as CEO of Drone Camp LLC which trains roughly 3,000 children per year in ethical drone technology. Drone Camp currently operates in eight states and continues to gain national attention as they have been featured on USA Today, Huffington Post, ABC and FOX.

“I’m going to bring a new perspective to the Airport Commission. For so long, the Middletown airport has remained stagnant and I think you are going to start to see tons of activity buzzing around the hangars out there. My focus will be on education, business and transparency.” said King.

The meetings will take place on the third Monday of each month at 6pm in Jets Hangar.
